The Lowther Arms is a traditional country pub in the heart of Mawbray village, close to the sea on the Solway Plain in north-west Cumbria. Set in peaceful countryside and Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty within Hadrian’s Wall World Heritage Site Buffer Zone, we are surrounded by stunning views of the Lakes and Scotland.
The Lowther Arms, run by a new tenant, is a cooperative and community-owned pub, saved from permanent closure and conversion to a house by the local community and over 300 shareholders.
After being closed for two and a half years, the pub re-opened in June 2021, and is now more than a pub – offering a comfortable place to have a drink, morning coffee, enjoy a meal, meet with friends, or simply a quiet corner to read in. Whether you are a local, a visitor, walker, or cyclist, come and relax in our lovely pub with its beer garden and stunning views of the Lake District.
Our 4-pitch caravan site is open and booking is advisable – Tel 01900 881044. We have 3 pitches for tourers and motorhomes, a Pod, plus camping.
Well-behaved dogs are welcome in the bar and beer garden.
We look forward to seeing you!
